We think it’s pretty important that kids know how to stay safe, and adults work to protect them on their journey to school.

In a worrying new study, over 40% of parents had seen their child involved in a ‘near-miss’ while walking or cycling to or from school. 1 in 20 said that their child had been hit by a vehicle.

It’s really important that children have the opportunity to walk or cycle to school. Not only is it great for the health, and environment, but is a brilliant way of building independence.

We were pleased to hear about charity Sustrans new Safety on the Roads campaign. It is asking the Government to increase dedicated funding, create more walking and cycling routes, and raise the amount of 20 mph zones.

If you’d like to take part in the campaign, follow this link.

With grown ups taking action, and resources like many of our road safety campaigns educating children on how to protect themselves, we think we could make a real difference!
