Project Explanation

The Brief
To create a vibrant magazine for Virgin Atlantic Airways that ensures their 5- to 11-year-old passengers are entertained during the flights.

The Design
Produced three times a year, Big Air was a full-colour publication packed full of activities, puzzles and quizzes to keep the kids happy… and if the kids are happy, their parents are happy and all the other adult passengers are happy, too. It’s a good example of how spending time creating a great proposition for children improves the experience of all customers.

To guide the young travellers through the magazine, we created the Big Air Gang – made up of four diverse, fun-loving children. The publication was packed with content – from popular TV shows and the latest movies, to music and sport, all with a personality that reflected Virgin Atlantic’s well-known brand. Working with airline amenity suppliers Watermark, who distributed the kids’ kit, we created a package that children loved. As Watermark complete fulfillment in the Far East, we printed and delivered the magazines to Guangzhou, China.

The Feedback
Virgin Atlantic re-awarded us the contract three times. We also went on to create an inflight magazine for British Airways called Skyflyers.
